Paul Grant Neeley

in Memoriam

June 29, 1948 – August 20, 2024

Paul Grant Neeley, age 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 20th, surrounded by the love of his family at his home in Laguna Woods, California. Paul was more than just a beloved father, brother, son, and friend—he was a source of light and warmth for all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on every life he touched.

Born on June 26, 1948, in Great Bend, Kansas, Paul was the cherished son of Grant and Nadi-Ene Neeley. He grew up on the family farm near Dighton, Kansas, alongside his sister, Rita. Their shared experiences on the farm instilled in him the value of hard work, a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life, and a lifelong bond with his family.

After earning a bachelor’s & master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Fort Hays State University, Paul sought adventure and a new chapter in his life. His journey led him to the majestic Rocky Mountains of Colorado, where he began working with special needs children as a speech pathologist. It was here that Paul’s compassion and dedication to helping others first shone brightly.

With his infectious good nature, natural gift for conversation, and sharp business acumen, he found his true calling in real estate. Paul not only built a successful career but also forged countless friendships, always treating his clients and colleagues with kindness and integrity.

Yet, Paul’s true passion was the time he spent with his loved ones and enjoying the great outdoors of Colorado. Embracing the importance of family, Paul married Nancy Moseley, his partner of 25 years, with whom he raised two sons. He shared a love of rock collecting and jewelry-making with his son Adam, and bonded with his son Michael over restoring a 1970 Mustang Mach I and their mutual enjoyment of motorcycling.

Paul’s life was a testament to the joy of shared experiences, whether it was family trips in the R.V., collaborating on real estate projects, or simply being there for those he cared about, no matter what. He had such a big heart that many of his children’s friends came to see him as a second father, often turning to him for advice and seeking the comforting reassurance of a “Papa Neeley” seal of approval.

Paul is survived by his children, Michael Neeley, Adam Neeley, and Michaela Hightower; his grandchild, Siena Hightower; his son-in-law, Zach Rollins; his nephews and niece, Darin Buehler, Shane Buehler and Richel Buehler-Stagner; and his companion late in life, Marcie Nordlund. He is predeceased by his former wife and dear friend, Nancy Moseley; sister, Rita Buehler; brother-in-law, Richard Buehler; and niece, Tara Buehler.

A celebration of Paul’s life will be held; Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 12 PM MT in Colorado Springs, CO. Please complete the form below/adjacent to receive additional details regarding the in person & virtual celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Gorgeous Little Things (GLT), a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to creating educational programs that contribute to teaching and preserving the appreciation of minerals, gemstones, and contemporary jewelry.

Paul was deeply inspired by a Gem Mining Adventure that he helped plan with Adam earlier this year. It was his heartfelt wish that Gorgeous Little Things sponsor another trip in the spring, allowing families and children to prospect for gems and minerals. This would be a fitting tribute to Paul’s enduring love of the mountains, his passion for rock collecting, and his commitment to education.
